Living With A Poorly Boy.

The hubby suffers badly from Chest Infections, all the time. Whenever he is ill, he has man flu, and he's "dying". He can be so dramatic...His first ever chest infection was when he was only 10 months old...
Harry is 10 months old, and had a chest infection this month..
He came down with a snuffle, went off of his food, wouldn't drink, wouldn't have bottle or wouldn't sleep..
So we took him to the, very helpful(Y), doctors to be told "it's just a cold, he'll be fine in 4 days time!".
That night he didn't sleep, he couldn't settle, couldn't do anything for him. So at 6am, we were up A&E, asking the same... being told " "it's just a cold, he'll be fine in 4 days time!".
This time, I still wasn't happy, as my boy wasn't my Harry. But we had two voices tell me so I let it be.
Less than 24 hours later, he was laying on his Grandad, not moving, just laying there watching the world go around. Anybody who knows Harry knows this isn't him. He hasn't been this still in ages. He doesn't like cuddles, and he wants to be off exploring...Not this day.
So we then tried to feed him again, it came back up seconds later; after him choking, turning purple and then screaming in crying.
The rest was a blur; we shot him straight up A&E, again..this time they took him straight round to resus. Gave him a nebuliser with steroids, gave him blood tests, weight checks, drips. Everything. It was all so scary.
They hadn't even blinked at him the day before, yet,we were here...
We got told we weren't going home that night, so we got ourselves comfortable.
That was probably the longest night I've ever had of being a mummy.
The panic going through my head. I had no phone, as it run out of charge, no hubby, as he got sent home (only one parent can stay), no food, no drink, no cuddles and no sense in my head as to what had just happened.
We went through a long long 26 hours in hospital from steroids, nebulisers to then being allowed out with antibiotics and Calpol.
Two days later, he was back to the Harry that we knew for the past 10 months..
It was so scary, but so lovely to have him back.
I can't fault the help we got the second time we went in, but what would have happened if they could have just looked at him a bit more thorough at the doctors?!
I know we will be expecting more Chest Infections, but I hope they don't all end up being Croup + Viral & Chest Infection! ....Hate my boys being ill. x
